Healing: Day 18 of Lent

49 When those who were around him saw what was coming, they asked, “Lord, should we strike with the sword?” 50 Then one of them struck the slave of the high priest and cut off his right ear. 51 But Jesus said, “No more of this!” And he touched his ear and healed him.

Luke 22:49-51

Also in Matthew 26:51-54; Mark 14:47; John 18:10-11; but only Luke records the healing.

Lord, this is marvelous. . . really.

He comes to hurt you… and you heal him.

“Love    your enemies,” you said and you did!

Quite wonderfully, in the dreaded darkness of this time and place, there is this light of healing love.

Wherever you are

there is always healing, light, and love.

Thank you for the healing you bring even to me;

not hurt for all my hurting you, but healing.

Thank you for all

through whom you give healing to us.

We pray for all who need healing now, all who are hurting today, all whom we are naming in our hearts:

touch them too with your healing love.
