HIs Mother: Palm Sunday

25 And that is what the soldiers did.

Meanwhile, standing near the cross of Jesus were his mother, and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. 26 When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple whom he loved standing beside her, he said to his mother, “Woman, here is your son.” 27 Then he said to the disciple, “Here is your mother.” And from that hour the disciple took her into his own home.

Lord of love and sorrow

“You too will be pierced to the heart,” said Simeon, and she is;

but she stays there, remains with the pain in fellowship with your sufferings.

We are moved, but not surprised,

by the streams of love that flow between you; your deep concern and care for her despite your pain,

and for your closest friend.

You give them to each other, for they need each other;

need to accept each other’s help and love.

No wonder some have seen sign and symbol of the church in this gracious bonding.

for you have given lid to each other in the wisdom of your care for us, to give and take help amongst us, and to love one another.

We pray for your church, the fellowship where we belong, and all your Christians,

and we pray for our family and friends, those who share our need and pain and stand with us.
