Why Me: Day 3 Reflection

Luke 1:24-25

24 After this his wife Elizabeth became pregnant and for five months remained in seclusion. 25 “The Lord has done this for me,” she said. “In these days he has shown his favor and taken away my disgrace among the people.”

Luke 1:39-45

Mary Visits Elizabeth

39 At that time Mary got ready and hurried to a town in the hill country of Judea, 40 where she entered Zechariah’s home and greeted Elizabeth. 41 When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. 42 In a loud voice she exclaimed: “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the child you will bear! 43 But why am I so favored, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? 44 As soon as the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy. 45 Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill his promises to her!”

Elizabeth said, “This is What the Lord has done for me.” Think back on some times of joy in your life. What has God done for you that you celebrate?

What has God done for you recently? Where do you see the reason for joy in the world? in your life?

What people have been Elizabeths for you, people you could go to in times of crisis? What did they do that helped you and allowed you to go to them?

For Whom have you been privileged to be an Elizabeth, a reliable friend who shared faith and encouragement?

Who has helped you to identify or pay attention to God’s work in your life?

Look back on your friendships With awareness of God’s work. How has God used your friendships to shape you in faithfulness? How have you been a friend in faith for others?

Pray a breath prayer.

For a breath prayer until your next time of reflection, consider praying, “Friend and Brother Christ, thank you for being with me.”
